James Montgomery Flagg

James Montgomery Flagg (1877-1960) is perhaps best known for his iconic World War I recruitment poster, which featured a very serious Uncle Sam and the caption "I want YOU for U.S. army." Due to the costs of hiring a model, he ended up using his own face (with added age and goatee) for Uncle Sam. Beginning his career at the age of 12 when his work was featured in magazines such as LIFE, Flagg used his passion for art and comedy to create countless cartoons and illustrations which appeared in books, newspapers and advertising all over America.

Please note that there is printing on the reverse.

Hello New York lovers, this city will certainly leave you speechless and adventure is worthwhile..

Millions of NYC visitors fall in love with this city each year (I am one of them in 2015), but only very few can honestly flourish as a resident of this city. You all must be aware that New York City is the most densely populated city of the United States receiving over 50 million tourists in a year and it is also ranked the most photographed city of the world with the breathtaking beauty of Manhattan,... Manhattan Skyline will give you the stunning view of an array of extremely beautiful and huge buildings, which are not only amazing to look at, but they are gushing with historical treasures as well. You can easily visit the New York City and its adjoining areas by New York City Subway, which is the most extensive metro worldwide, with over 400 stations in operation. Even if you are out carousing later than usual timing, you would have to just walk down a few blocks to enter the subway entrance…it’s simply amazing and you can never get lost in such a dense city. If you are staying in the NYC, there will never be a shortage of things you can do. The most important attractions are Manhattan skyline, Times Square, Empire State, Rockefeller Center, Statue of Liberty & Staten Island, Brooklyn bridge, Central... Times square, iconified as the World’s heart, especially its “Crossroads” is the most illuminated hub of the Broadway Theatre. It is among the world’s busiest pedestrian intersections, where you will find almost a million people roaming in the street of Times Square. It is also a major center of the world’s entertainment industry and I would rather say, it’s the only place where you can never fall asleep. Do not miss out on the beautiful Broadway live shows, famous all across the world, giving stunning experience to any tourists. This is the only thing I missed out because tickets were extremely expensive at last moment and I had to visit other sites in just 4 days of my stay. Personally experienced, you need to have minimum 10 days in order to really enjoy the life of this city. The two things required for this visit are TIME and MONEY. I would strongly recommend buying a customized city tour pass for a week from Groupon where you will experience exciting deals and offers (at times 50% flat discount). I think there are a few hundred places to visit in this city-beautiful architecture, bridges, museums, cafés and bars, parks…cuisine from all corners of the earth and shopping hubs as well. Some of the personally experienced amazing things you should do : “ Hop on hop off Bus ” (40$/person)- You can roam all around the new York City at your ease. you could also book the night bus to experience the wonderful view of this illuminated city. “ Cruise to the statue of Liberty ” (approx. 30$/person)- The cruise experience is again wonderful where you get to see the Statue of Liberty, Staten Island and Elis Island. on these two islands excluding 60 minutes of cruise tour. “ Downtown Manhattan cruise ” (approx. 30$/person)- The most wonderful experience it gives and I would say, each one of us should see this beauty at least once in our lifetimes. This cruise takes all around Manhattan along with the view of Liberty, Brooklyn bridge, world’s amazing Manhattan Skyline…This cruise runs thrice a day for 90 minutes each. 35$/person)- Located in the center of Midtown Manhattan, 86th and 102nd floor observatories provide unforgettable 360° view of New York City and beyond. Whether you’re in town for a week or a day, no visit to NYC is complete without experiencing the top of the Empire State Building. I had experienced this from the 86 floor at night and this beauty can never be expressed in few words…it was Just WOW, as if I was on Top of the World. 30$/person)- Going to Top of the Rock is something you simply must do in New York City to make your visit fully complete. No other vantage point in the city offers the inspiring, unobstructed views you’ll find high atop Rockefeller Center. Stunning panoramas you just can’t get anywhere else and hence Top of the Rock is a “must do” in New York City Sightseeing Destinations. “ Central Park ”, the most visited.
